Add a CommentThis is a fabulous series by Y.S. Lee. I've read the first 2 in the trilogy, The Agency and The Body in the Tower. This is the last book in the series and I'm really sorry to see it end. Mary Quinn, a former child thief, was taken in by members of a secret agency who train women to be spies! In Victorian England, no one would ever suspect that females would do this sort of thing. James is the romantic protagonist and I was glad there was a satisfying ending. Just wish it would continue!
I have really enjoyed this series. I do hope that she will continue writing about Mary especially if she starts up her own agency. I love mystery books and this did not disappoint.
My favourite one in the series thus far. Glad to hear that there will be another one coming out.
so-so. as a mystery, pretty unclear actually; after finishing the book, I'm still unsure of the connection between the murder in the opium den and the ensuing crisis in the palace afterward. and her meeting her her long lost father was... disappointing, I have to say. the fact that she keeps on bumping into James is also a bit farfetched to me; I slightly wish that the romance would play out differently. over all, the book is mediocre, whether you are reading it in favor of the mystery or the romance.
So excited to read this. The last one ended on such a cliffhanger!!
