If you are intimidated by the thickness of the Harry Potter Series, do not be scared and try to read the first novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Even though it is obvious that you start with the first book of the series, the first book does not scare you off with the thickness of it compared to the other books that are part of the series. It is only about 300 pages, and if you don’t like the series, again, it’s only about 300 pages! The novel is about a boy named Harry Potter who is an orphan and figured out that he is a wizard on his eleventh birthday. He ventures off into the wizarding world by enrolling in a Wizarding School called Hogwarts with two of his friends that he meets on his way to this world and encounters many events along the way. As like many other Harry Potter readers, I was obsessed with the story and wanted anything that was Harry Potter related. This could be the start of your new obsession! There are many translations of the book, so everyone could enjoy the magicalness of the story! This Harry Potter series was a huge part in many people’s childhoods, so perhaps, this could be a start to having a book that greatly influences your life in a wonderful way.If you are intimidated by the thickness of the Harry Potter Series, do not be scared and try to read the first novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. This book is not like your ordinary fairy tale. Instead, it is a unique version of a Cinderella Story that takes place in a futuristic setting. There are components that make it seem that it is a Cinderella Story such as the mean sisters, the ball, and the hardworking main character, but the main character named Linh Cinder in the story is a hardworking half-human and half-andriod. The story is about Cinder who encounters a deadly plague, where everyone is desperately looking for a cure. Not only that, there is another race called the Lunars who are also involved. There is some romance in the story, which is suggested from the story that is based on a fairy tale. This book is the first book out of the Lunar Series and a great way to start off the series, as it hooks the readers, especially the people who are interested in romance but in a different way. I love this series and was glad that it was recommended by a friend. This book would be in my top five favorites due to its subtle romance and amazing plot. There are no complaints from me and will always read this book again. I love the inspiration that the author received, and she made it her own. Her creativity and originality really stands out in the series. This book is not like your ordinary fairy tale. The Illustrated Man is a science fiction, fantasy, and horror. It is a collection of stories that revolve around a man that is covered in illustrations. The man is trying to find this mystery woman who gave him these illustrations that could determine your fate, when one stares at it long enough. Each illustration on the man’s body tells a story, and each short story tells an important message to the reader; each story/chapter is different. Bradbury writes the story in a descriptive and imaginative way that gets the reader hooked on the book. He describes things so vividly to the point that it feels like you are inside the story. My favorite chapter in the book is “The Veldt''. It is in the beginning of the book and tells a story of this family who are reliant and obsessed with technology. In the story, there’s a part that will leave you in shock. You will be shocked by what happened in the story! I recommend the Illustrated Man to many people, and it got me back into reading, as I did not read as many books before. There is nothing that I disliked about the book and would give it a five out of five stars. In addition, here is a fun fact — he wrote these stories due to the influence of his surroundings. Many events occurred during his time such as government complications and civil rights. Those events are still relevant today, as the writer published the book in 1951. It is amazing how over fifty years ago, Bradbury depicted problems in society that eventually became a huge problem today! The Illustrated Man is a science fiction, fantasy, and horror.
