This is a beautifully photographed (or rather cinematographed) film, with some highly photogenic actors in it. The story is a bit weird, focused on the main female character, and the upshot ambiguous, but not amorphously so (basically a dichotomy: did she make the right choice? was she genuinely loyal to him (as she claimed early in the film)? Is love to be had by loyalty or by discovery?) . I was surprised to see how many ways cigarettes were used in a social way, for introduction, for flirtation, for friendly gestures, to indicate boredom, to indicate anxiety, to indicate frustration, and others things too; just about every possible use of the cigarette as a prop was exploited.
