A very enjoyable book by a great animal lover, who also has good humor. This is about the adventures of a man and a rescued street cat, related in a refreshing style. The day next to being rescued and washed clean, Polar Bear, the white boy cat walks around Amory's bachelor apartment, checks it out, then lies down in the middle of it, thereby declaring: "I'll take it!" And this duo will also take your heart. As regards Vancouver BC, there are lots of cats outside, home cats who are shut out from the apartments into the night, and also street cats, who starve outside. As the home cats are shut out for the street at night even in very bad weather, they suffer too - this practice is a very bad habit hereabouts. I rescued such a cat, who seemed to have been dumped on the street and was always hungry, but very friendly - and I took him to VOKRA, this noble organization that rescues cats. 3 days later they called me, telling me that the owner of the black boy cat searched at Craig list for his "lost cat," and they gave him back to his cruel owner. Since then the cat was again shut out into the street day and night, and even as of now, he waits for me in the back alley at night, rubs his head against my hand, and meowing, he asks for food, because his owner does not even feed him properly. Bad owners should not claim ownership of a cat if they don't feed it and shut it out into the street. Well, Amory feeds Polar Bear, and won't let him wander outside in the area of Central Park, New York. Another good book by Amory is "Ranch Of Dreams," where he tells the story of the rescuing of hundreds of wild donkeys from the bottom of the Grand Canyon, where they were slated already for extermination. Try to find that book and read it - in the Black Beauty ranch in Texas all kinds of rescued animals are kept and fed. Now, back to the present book, read it and enjoy it. Amory was a great animal protector, an extraordinarily nice person himself and Polar Bear a great personality. In the book you will find many humorous details of their life together.
