There is a historical basis for The Bone Yard's plotline, which was inspired by events and stories from an actual north Florida reform school. That made this is an exceptionally heartwrenching and difficult book to read.

This one continues to intrigue in the series as Dr. Brockton investigates and former boys reformatory where bones are uncovered, bringing another true story to light in this fictional tale.

Dr. Bill Brockton, head of U of Tennessee Anthropology Dept., continues to revolutionize the study of forensics to help law enforcement solve homicides.

With 2 storylines, helping one of his students prove her sister's suicide was actually a homicide, and locating a hidden graveyard in a long defunct boys reformatory to prove murder, this is an often pedantic narrative.

While interesting, it was not compelling and I probably won't go on to read any of the 6 or so other books in the series.

New author to me. I liked the first book! I will take catfish1's advice and try more.

This book sounds awesome but I don't read that often.

This series just gets better. Great characters, sombre plot based on actual events, and the familiar forensic details. Thoroughly recommended.

Very good read. A bit gruesome, but he's a bone doc!

Entertaining read all right.
I read most of the Body Farm series. Stuff about the human body that I never ever thought about before nor ever read about before either.

Makes one want to check up on how own state handles juvenile offenders.

Love can make you smaller, or it can make you bigger. Just depends on what you do after it.

The students had competed fiercely to get into the NFA course, and several had told me how thrilled they were to train at the Body Farm - probably the only place on earth, after all, where cinching a noose around a neck was an act of scientific inquiry rather than of suicidal despair or racist hatred or - very rarely - state-administered execution.
