The New York Times bestselling author of Bet Me, Tell Me Lies and Welcome to Temptation delivers her long-awaited novel Andie Miller is ready to move on in life. She wants to marry her fiancé and leave behind everything in her past, especially her ex-husband, North Archer. But when Andie tries to gain closure with him, he asks one final favor of her before they go their separate ways forever. A very distant cousin of his has died and left North as the guardian of two orphans who have driven out three nannies already, and things are getting worse. He needs a very special person to take care of the situation and he knows Andie can handle anything. When Andie meets the two children she quickly realizes things are much worse than she feared. The place is a mess, the children, Carter and Alice, aren't your average delinquents, and the creepy old house where they live is being run by the worst housekeeper since Mrs. Danvers. What's worse, Andie's fiancé thinks this is all a plan by North to get Andie back, and he may be right. Andie's dreams have been haunted by North since she arrived at the old house. And that's not the only haunting. What follows is a hilarious adventure in exorcism, including a self-doubting parapsychologist, an annoyed medium, her Tarot-card reading mother, an avenging ex-mother-inlaw, and, of course, her jealous fiancé. And just when she thinks things couldn't get more complicated, North shows up on the doorstep making her wonder if maybe this time things could be different between them. If Andie can just get rid of all the guests and ghosts, she's pretty sure she can save the kids, and herself, from the past. But fate might just have another thing in mind...

Review excerpt: "In short, 'Maybe This Time' is the classic example of the whole being more than the sum of its parts. I read this book, flipped back to the beginning, and read it again just for fun. I loved the humor, the tension, the imagery, the crazy cast of characters, and the themes. For pure enjoyment, I’d give it an A. However, the book may disappoint lovers of the paranormal in it’s use of cliche, and it may disappoint romance readers because the romance is secondary to the ghost story. I loved the book and would read it again and again, but I wish it had gone a little deeper and maybe even a little darker. "

In the typical JC fashion, this book was weirdly fun! (I am not sure this is a correct phrase)..

The characters were fun to read about and the supernatural element in the book was an interesting touch, which made it a bit different from all other JC books.
Cruise never fails to deliver and all her books are made for re-reads!!

This was a crazy fun read! Loved the chemistry between the main couple and between Andie and the kids.

One thing I didn't like was the excessive promises made by Andie. Some thing goes wrong, she swears she'll make it right. Someone gets hurt, she swears she'll fix it. I just don't like seeing promises made so casually since it doesn't do anything. I suppose it shows that she's passionate but it just got very repetitive.

On a side note, i don't think we ever found out who The Emperor was in Flo's tarot cards. Oh and what's up with the title? It goes well with the romance side of things but that a title associated with the paranormal stuff would've been more appropriate IMO.

This was a funny and cute book that had its suspenseful and creepy moments. And the best part of this novel, in my opinion, was the two children Alice and Carter who are being haunted by ghosts. I loved Carter especially and couldn't help but laugh out loud at this one incident involving him and the nosy reporter whom absolutely everyone in the book seems to hate. The only reason this book didn't get more stars is because of North Archer's character. I didn't care much for the romance between Andie and North, and I personally found North to be a little boring.

I truly enjoy reading this book over and over again. It is a light read and entertaining when life is at its busiest at home. It helps in the escape of the everyday hussle and bustle that we as moms experience. It is a read where you can read a page, have a tea and run back to your errands without losing the plot that you had just read. I hope you enjoy this light tale and enjoy your tea as I have and do.

Very entertaining but makes me wonder how many ghosts are existing in my house. Andie Miller is believable in her role as nanny and you just want to hug the little girl and make her bad dreams disappear.

The divorced Andie has had enough of her ex-husband, North Archer, and goes into to see him in his office to give closure to their relationship. So that she may continue on with her life with her new boyfriend, Will, who has asked to marry him.

However, the situation changes as North offers a temporary job in handling two children with a rough past of their loved ones dying and living in a supposed haunted house. When some weird things occur that bring around some intriguing characters to this house and all chaos collides. Will Andie close the chapter with North so she can get on with her life? Easy and light read

Loved this book - was very quick paced and I finished it in a day - couldn't put it down - interesting subject matter too.

Maybe This Time by Jennifer Crusie is about the main character, Andie, who has been divorced for I believe ten years and basically she walks into her ex-husband's office presumably to finish things off with him, but he hires her to go this house to take care of two kids because he is not available and after tempting her with a nice sum of money which will help to pay her debts she decides to take on the job. However, the house is actually haunted by ghosts who won't allow the kids to leave. So basically the story revolves around Andie and the kids and her attempts on trying to get the kids away from the evil ghosts. I personally enjoyed it.
