This is a 44-minute documentary originally produced in 2009 as an episode of the television program "Modern Marvels".
It explores the U.S. Library of Congress, which is a library unlike any other.
Here, upward of 745 miles of shelves hold close to 145 million items, many of which turn out invaluable treasures such as George Washington's hand-written diaries.
You can see how a staff of 4,000 people catalog, safeguard and preserve these prized possessions and how modern technology has enabled them to distribute these items globally through its award-winning website and a new World Digital Library.

The USA's Library of Congress itself is amazing. However this documentary doesn't go into the sort of detail that would do it justice. A good overview.
