Costa-shortlisted author Jennie Rooney takes her readers back to the first giddying days of human flight in her much-anticipated follow-up to bittersweet wartime love story Inside the Whale .

Very much enjoyed this tale set in later nineteenth century. Man's fascination with flight and roles of women are themes intertwining the lives of vividly drawn characters. If you like Tracy Chevalier's books you'll like Jennie Rooney.
