All of London's vampires are very much interested in seeing Alexia quite thoroughly dead. While Lord Maccon elects to get progressively more inebriated and Professor Lyall desperately tries to hold the Woolsey werewolf pack together, Alexia flees England for Italy in search of the mysterious Templars. Only they know enough about the preternatural to explain her increasingly inconvenient condition, but they may be worse than the vampires -- and they're armed with pesto.

Whoops, two books in two days. And now I find out there's only two more left.

I gotta admit, it was fun running around the Europe on the run with Alexia, Madame Lefoux and Floote. The history lesson on preternatural was an added bonus. And I'm absolutely loving Professor Lyall.

This has been my least favorite of the series so far but it is the middle book and that is typical in a series. I struggle when Alexia and Maccon are separate but the traveling to Italy was a fun adventure.

I am really enjoying these books. Part historical fiction, part paranormal, even a little romance. Alexia’s sharp tongue and no-nonsense temperament are an absolute hoot. I find myself wishing for a parasol just like hers.

A fun romp, though not as good as Carriger's first and second novels in the series. This one spends a lot of time following the main character, and meanwhile the actual plot and mysteries happen elsewhere without reader knowledge. Still, it's fun and as sassy as usual!

This was one of the most interesting vampire novel I have read. The characters are well defined, the decor is set in a country I love, the technology is interesting, the relationships just as complex as we love them and least but not the last Alexia is a crispy funny strong and sensible character.
Gail Garriger has proven that she can keep on going and keep it interesting. I waited for the next one so much, I used to check and be like, Gail , please...

Third book in the series - breathlessly awaiting the fourth - strong female protagonist - strong secondary female - fantasy, i.e., alternate history w/ werewolves and vampires

Great Series! Good book. I just discovered I like Gail Carriger's brand of Steampunk.
