A stitch pattern dictionary is a must-have for every knitter?s bookshelf. A collection of stitch combinations?everything from basic knit-and-purl stitches to more complex cables, lace, and colorwork?enables knitters to create their own designs or modify existing patterns with ease. The content is timeless (unlike a book that contains patterns for garments), so this hardcover book will have a long shelf life and has the potential to be a solid backlist performer for years to come.

I would NOT recommend this book because in many of the pictures the stitches are twisted.

That's fine if that's the intention, but the instructions AND charts don't show twisted stitches.

Why is that such a big deal? It's like comparing a piece of cardboard to a piece of paper--the twisted knit stitches are much less flexible and create a much stiffer fabric, as well as a completely different visual texture.

Almost ALL of the pictures in the first chapter have strong vertical columns of twisted knit stitches, which is WRONG.
