I really enjoyed all 14 episodes (vol 1 & 2). Excellent series - I learned a tremendous amount.

These are strong, quick synopsis of great artists. Lots of visuals and some in-depth analysis of major works. Much of each episode is shot on location, and Tim Marlow had access to the great works of art, sans tourists. His breakdown of the art was informative and he explains concepts in a simple, straight-forward way.

My only complaint is the visual feast of pictures didn't always accompany the voice-over; I found myself having to rewind and look down at the floor so I could concentrate on the what was being spoken. And yes, the over-sized suits were a bit distracting!

Very clearly and unpretentiously uttered and narrated, and very brief, too brief. I was often distracted by his suits, all of which were too long for his arms. Images of the paintings themselves, and quick descriptions of technical innovations are the strong points of this series, while interpretation and criticism is virtually absent.
