Daniel McEvoy is a scarred ex-Irish Army sergeant who is now the bouncer at Slotz, a seedy small-time casino - and he has a problem. His favorite hostess and love interest, Connie, was murdered in the parking lot behind the club. And Zeb, the dubious plastic surgeon who implanted McEvoy's hair plugs, has disappeared. In no time at all McEvoy's got half the New Jersey mob, dirty cops and his man-crazy upstairs neighbor after him. Bullets are flying, everyone's on the take, and McEvoy still doesn't have a clue about what's happening.

If you like a good Elmore Leonard, this is great. Very funny.

Well I guess all books should have their 4 star and their 1 star reviews. Maybe since I listened to the audio version I have a different opinion, but this was not a well-written story

Was very surprised by how much I loved this quirky novel. None stop action and humor.

I read the new HGG by Colfer and loved it.. my kids read the Artemis series but I kept this gem a secret from them for when they grow up.. very entertaining and touching but the adult themes are not for children's reading.. brilliant story from beginning to end.

Absolutely bizarre! But it works.

Checked this out since my boys love his YA series. Pretty exciting with lots of twists and turns.

I have not read this author before this book. I just had to try after seeing all his YA books and boy, what a book. Funny, off the wall and quite a bit odd. It was intriguing enough that I will certainly read the sequel if there is one.

Hilarious! The poor guy is really having a bad time of it, but you can't help but laugh. Great writing style. The plot twists kept you guessing how on earth he was going to get out of it. I really hope a sequel's on the way.

Whew..what a ride. Daniel has the worst week of his life since leaving the army. It's a tale of non-stop action, crazy characters and lots of laughs.Sort of like a darker Tim Dorsey.

Absolutely delightful. As an "adult" fan of the Artemis Fowl series of books for children and young adults, I was curious to see what Colfer could do when he set out to create an adventure targetted at adults. My expectations were not very high but the author blew past them in the first chapter and never let up. Slick writing, enjoyable off-the-wall characters, humour, and unexpected twists of plot. This reader couldn't ask for more.
