I enjoyed both seasons of The Hour and I am disappointed that there won't be a season 3.

I enjoyed Season1 more than Season2, but the characters, acting, and set design of this series are exceptional. I'm disappointed the series has been cancelled; I would have liked to see more of these characters :-(

Slow moving to start, but a very good series. The set design is impeccable.

Reasonable acting, but slow moving and implausible script.

Somewhat strange.....episode 4 is exactly the same as episode 3....

I found this on the shelf, just browsing, and thought I'd give it a try since Ben Whishaw usually knocks my socks off in everything he does. Well, the rest of the cast, the storyline, the sets and costumes all knocked my socks off too. This show is the real deal, and I cannot believe that BBC decided to cancel it.
This season takes place in a news station in 1957, so I went into it thinking it was going to be some sort of Mad Men crossed with All The President's Men sort of thing. No way, this show is like nothing else i've seen in a long time- drama that ranges from artfully subtle to blow-up catastrophic throughout the episodes. With the threat of the Cold War hanging over everything, and memories of World War II so recent, it's a minefield of a time period for drama. As mentioned in previous comments, it was good on it's own without having watched the first season, but now I'm even more excited to see the first season.

This is the best series i have seen in a long time. Brilliantly acted, written and produced. Unfortunately, it appears there will not be a season 3.

Cold war 1950s Britain at the BBC. A new program is created, pushing the boundaries of traditional, dry television journalism. The team putting on the show, title The Hour, includes producer Bel, a young ambitious woman struggling with her professional ambitions in a male dominated world; rakish anchor Hector; and home news correspondence and moral anchor Freddie. Throw into the mix are espionage, the Suez Crisis and of course a sexy love triangle.
