To die or to become the Postmaster...that is Moist van Lipwig's choice. To see if he lives for another day, watch this hilarious, live-action fantasy.

Didn’t know what to expect, but not my taste.

Oh, Sir Terry! How you will be missed. This is an enjoyable, fun adaptation of the book, with some excellent casting choices and performances. Of course, the book was better, but it's hard to capture all the zany richness of a Discworld book in a mere three hours. Made me want to re-read all my favorites.

TERRY PRATCHETT is overrated.
This film cost a bundle to make but it was the same old same old stuff that I'm sick of seeing.
2 and a half stars is maybe too much ... but it's Christmas!

I enjoyed this PG video, thanks to discovering it in our library's "Community Activity" feature. I see a lot of wisdom, presented in wonderful humor, in modern day society, such as those victimless wall street crimes: Moist Von Lipwig: I'm just a con man! Mr. Pump: You have killed 22.8 people. Moist Von Lipwig: I've never so much as drawn a sword. Mr. Pump: You have stolen, embezzled, and swindled. You have ruined businesses and destroyed lives. When banks fail, it's not bankers who starve. In a thousand small ways, you have hastened the deaths of many. You did not know them. You did not see them bleed. But you snatched bread from their mouths. There will be no running.

I thought the acting was great and the way they used fans as extras really neat. Favourites are Groat and Adora, Sachs and Foy were awesome!

Another wonderful adaption of a Disc-world novel. Kudos to the director, crew and of course Mr. Pratchett for the original story.

One of the better of Pratchett's recent books, Going Postal is easily the best movie adaptation of a Discworld book so far, and perhaps as good as movies will ever get on Discworld. Why? Because better special effects won't help convey the humorous insights and plonking headology* of Pratchett's prose. Please try the books, e.g. Wyrd Sisters or Soul Music to name but two of the betterones. *cf. Granny Weatherwax, grand practitioner of same

I watched the color of magic with my family and we enjoyed it (although a bit slow at times), so we knew the style to expect for Going Postal.
We thoroughly enjoyed this 2 part story. It ties in technology and processes of our everyday from a new angle. It is well worth picking up.

More from the book (Ch. 11):
‘You made me sack a lot of the craftsmen,' said Pony.

‘We didn't sack them. We "let them go",' said Gilt.

‘We... downsized,' said Greenyham.

‘Looks like you succeeded, sir,' said Pony. He took a stub of pencil out of one pocket and a grubby notebook out of the other.

‘D'you want it fast or cheap or good, gentlemen?' he said. ‘The way things have gone, I can only give you one out of three...'

On monopoly:

‘Don't patronize me, my lord,' said Gilt. ‘We own the Trunk. It is our property. You understand that? Property is the foundation of freedom. Oh, customers complain about the service and the cost, but customers always complain about such things. We have no shortage of customers at whatever cost. Before the semaphore, news from Genua took months to get here, now it takes less than a day. It is affordable magic. We are answerable to our shareholders, my lord. Not, with respect, to you. It is not your business. It is our business, and we will run it according to the market. I hope there are no tyrannies here. This is, with respect, a free city.'
