Overall a decent movie with a few spots that will make you jump.

I found it to be a lot scarier than the first two films. A lot more actually happened in this one as well. Not bad.

Worth a watch.

Presented as yet another series of "found tapes" , this time from 1988, this third instalment in the "Home Movies From Hell" franchise pretty much follows the same tired old premise as its predecessors: young family with kids move into a scary demonic house, things bump and crash in the night, youngest child develops an unhealthy relationship with an invisible friend; but instead of jumping in the car and getting THE HELL OUT OF THERE, dad decides to set up video cameras in order to figure out just what the bogeyman wants (huh!?). Despite the many illogical plot devices this one is still genuinely creepy with enough jolts and excruciatingly tense static shots to have you reaching for every light switch you can find. Plus, in a rather obvious (yet clever) closing twist the directors make a sincere effort to clear up some of the narrative holes from parts 1 and 2. It's all rather silly of course, but I still spent the night on my husband's side of the bed much to his annoyance.

Not as scary as the first Paranormal Activity movie (because that one was creepy, one of the scariest), but still good. The general idea is basically like the other PA movies, but it's still scary, and there are some jump-worthy moments.

Interesting to follow the plot line of these movies, as each movie takes place before the last.

I really liked the first 2/3rds of this movie. It explores well the history of how the sisters first got the haunting thing going and it was kind of cool to laugh at the old 80's camcorders. The first scenes with the kids were pretty scary too. Couple of things though. Wasn't the biggest fan of either of the main 'adult' actors. Found them both a bit annoying. The kids were cute and were good actors which made it all the more scarier when the haunting goes down. For me, the movie fell apart in the 3rd act when they went to grandma's house. Didn't really make much sense what happened there to me but in fairness, it was still scary. Enough scares to warrant this series continuing though.

Make the horror stop...not as in the entity in the movie world but that movies like this keep getting made. How many times as a society can we see the same tricks and actions again and again and each time say "wow, amazing movie!" before we realize we are on a movie tread mill? entity makes thumps in the night, people stand in doorways for extended periods of time, people go flying across rooms. Just change the names of the people and their ages but use these same things and now we have a different movie? Luckily both my wife and I have learned not to spend any money in theatres on these movies but instead wait and borrow from the library and then the only thing wasted is time...though for #4 might not even consider wasting that on these movies.

Does anyone know when the 4th Paranormal Activity is coming out?
