This book is very well written and may be appropriate for an older child. However, as the story line is that Nancy cuts her own hair (without permission) when she doesn’t believe it looks nice enough for a school photo, thus making it a choppy mess, it was not an appropriate book for me to read to my 4-year old granddaughter. Many young children simply do not have the processing skills to understand the story line is showing you that you should not cut your own hair, and may be tempted to do so simply because they saw Fancy Nancy cut hers. Once again, I learned a lesson about reading each book we bring home prior to reading it to my granddaughter.
