Unabridged. Auggie Pullman was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to a mainstream school, until now. He's about to start 5th grade at Beecher Prep, and is nervous about being the new kid at school. The thing is Auggie's just an ordinary kid, with an extraordinary face. But can he convince his new classmates that he's just like them, despite appearances?

While understanding the perspectives of several who wrote less faborable reviews, I devoured this book, loved the multiple POVs and highly recommend it. It's more than a feel-good, all-ends-well book. It's deep and insightful, with so much of the depth inferred rather than specifically stated. I often felt what the characters were feeling -- uncertainty, hurt, pride, a desire to do the right thing without exactly knowing how. When a book engages me at that level, it's a win.

Excellent read for all ages! The story starts off in the perspective of Auggie, but I was really drawn in when it switched to other characters in the book. The author does a great job giving life to the grey area in between right and wrong, where so many social lessons are learned as a child!

This is a terrific book. Auggie Pullman, born with several birth defects that caused him to have a facial deformity, moves from home-schooling to middle school. He has an interesting year at school, making friends and breaking down barriers and prejudices due to his outstanding character. A very moving book that teaches the importance personality vs. looks, a valuable lesson for kids and adults of any age.
