Three downright gorgeous short stories consisting primarily of Shaun Tan's mesmerizing art.

This collection of three Australian short stories are odd, eerie, and thought-provoking, and when paired with Tan's brain-bending collage-style illustrations, makes this a book you won't forget in a hurry.

I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by Lost & Found. I wasn't expecting such "dark" stories from a juvenile graphic novel. Actually, the three unconnected stories compiled in this volume are relevant to people of all ages and the art, to me, is fantastic, but that just might be because I like this particular style. For example, one image depicts a little girl looking at the wonders beyond her reach, behind a window padlocked with regret. The stories deal with depression, self-identity and feelings of alienation. Without stereotyping too much, they would be ideal for teens and/or tweens.

I'm a huge Shaun Tan fan and it is great to have these "lost and found" stories available in North America. Just as thoughful, beautiful, and magical as always. Take your time and savour these!
