I don't usually leave comments about movies as it's a pretty subjective thing whether a movie is "good" or not but I feel compelled to issue a warning in regards to "Megan Is Missing". This movie has a definite agenda which I found very deceitful & therefore, annoying. The way it's described makes it sound much like a movie you could catch on the Lifetime Network. And the first hour pretty much kept to that formula with cheesy acting and a plot line seen many times before. Then came the 2 "photos" of the missing girl which were so visually graphic & disturbing that I had to turn it off. Seriously, I didn't even watch the last twenty minutes yet just those 2 photos made it so I couldn't sleep that night! The next day I looked the movie up on IMDB to see whether I should watch the end of it or not & needless to say, reading what other people wrote about this film's last "22 minutes", I chose not to because I guess it gets worse. Graphic torture & rape scenes involving minor girls? That's not something I EVER care to spend my time watching... (Although I gotta say, it would disturb me regardless of the age of the victim) Yes, this kind of stuff actually happens and freaky fetish sites apparently do exist which of course is what makes it all so scary but that's no reason to inflict this kind of film on an unsuspecting viewer not expecting such stuff! Like I said, the people behind this film totally had an agenda, a message to send, but the way they went about it is wrong. Ethically, it should come with a big warning that such depravity & violence is portrayed because it should be a CHOICE whether to watch such subject matter, not a frightening and unpleasant surprise. Also, parents should be aware of this movie's content before allowing their child to watch it. In my opinion, it should at least be filed under "horror" instead of "mystery/suspense" in order to give some hint as to the subject matter & content.
Man, I only saw the beginning of the apprently disgusting finale and still, I wish I could "un-see" this awful piece of trash. :( Negative stars!!

While this movie is a work of fiction, it is based on several missing children cases. The movie takes place on these childrens computers and video cams, with a couple of scenes using "footage" from supposed news shows. It starts off with Megan and her pal Amy steering through teen culture and trying to find their place in it. Megan eventually has an online hook-up with "Josh" a teen male whome her friend Lexie introduces her too. Then Megan goes missing. Not long after, her friend Amy goes missing too. While most of the violence takes place off screen except for the 3 minute rape, what happens to these girls is horrific! This is a frightening movie because stories like this happen all the time, and this movie presents them without the filter that newspapers and tv use when telling us the facts. The last 20 minutes of this movie will break your heart.
