This is probably one of the most underrated books in Children's Literature! Eager's enthusiastic voice grabs the reader from the first sentence, and the story that follows transcends the perceived generational gap (the book was written in the 1950s) between the author and the current times. It's a great book to read aloud to a class, and I highly recommend it for parents who still read to their school-aged children.
