Let it Shine is about a teen boy named Cyrus DeBarge who has a gift for coming up with rhymes and beats but, he does not have the self-confidence to show his skills until, his childhood friend and crush, Roxanne Andrews who is now a popular singer under the name “Roxie” starts a songwriting competition and the winner will get their song produced by her label. Cyrus decides to write a song for this contest under the name “Truth” but, when he sends a picture of himself and his best friend, Kris McDuffy, Roxie ends up thinking that Kris is Truth when he actually isn’t. Kris immediately falls for Roxie and begs Cyrus to help him pretend to be “Truth”. Let it Shine was a fantastic movie and I really enjoyed watching it, as it had some funny moments and also some heartwarming moments. The songs in the movie were also pretty good. Overall, I would definitely recommend this film and I would rate it 4.5/5.

My little brother borrowed this movie before and I didn't think I will like it, but I watched it because my little brother wanted me to watch it with him so badly. But when I watched it with him, I actually really liked it. I thought this was a TV show, but no, it is a movie, so it was way better. I really liked it. It's about this girl's father who didn't want her to sing. He just wanted her to sing church songs from their church. So she kept that as a sercret, but later he was mad at her and told her she can't sing these songs and not listen to what the boys tell her to do and that she can not have a boyfriend. But then, he relized that he has to let her shine and sing out loud. I really started liking this movie, even thought I always thought this was a TV show by Disney. And they just putted this movie on TV today and so I got to watch it again. It was a really cool movie and I saw this DVD in stores too at Walmart, but it was a couple years ago when I saw it. It was a little disappointng that they let the cast dance in church. Who does that? I thought that was embarrassing, but the movie was really good. I can't say it wasn't, but it was.
