I enjoyed this book. I liked protagonist Izzy, who seemed like a genuine, intelligent, and overall likeable character. I appreciated that there were romantic elements but that the book stayed true to its mystery format. The plot was engaging and moved along at a nice place. Overall, this is a solid read.

I like this author (I also read and enjoyed Camp X) and will continue to read his books.

The 258 page novel “Innocent” by Eric Walters is an interesting book about an orphan and her life after a fire in the orphanage where she lived. The events in this book were very different from what I had expected which helped me stay interested in the book. I enjoyed the storyline of the book and that some of the events felt real and like what might be what some orphans are actually going through. I also liked the mystery aspect of the story. I would rate this book a 9 out of 10 because there were a few parts where I would have liked the book to have gone into a bit more detail. In conclusion, I really enjoyed reading this book.

After the orphanage she grew up in burned down, it was all Betty could do but to force herself to move forward. Given an address and a job at a household as a maid, Betty finds her self in her birth-town, Kingston. As she uncovers secrets and mysteries about her past, Betty discovers that her mother was murdered and that her father was convicted for the murder. With the help of a young police officer, Betty digs deeper into her past only to contradict with the future. A truly well-written and engaging book and recommended for tweens and teens, Eric Walters shares the story of a teenager running from her past and risking her future. 8/10

Secrets is an excellent series with each book written by a different author. Innocent takes place in Kingston in 1964. An interesting mystery, that is a fast and good read.

I can see that this is a very wanted book within the Secrets Series. And it does deserve attention, because in my opinion, it is the first or second best book out of the 7.(I can't choose between this one and Marthe Jocelyn's) Betty has a particularly exciting life compared to the other 6 girls. I would say Eric Walters did an excellent job making his story interesting, incorporating mystery with a tiny taste of thriller thrown in. "Innocent" sticks to the topic throughout the whole novel so you'll be interested. I couldn't put this down, reading it in less than 5 hours xD
