I own and love this movie and am shocked at the low-star ratings, but to each their own.

It would be great if the library bought a copy of the novel by Armistead Maupin, because it's excellent. Someone borrowed my copy in 2002 and never gave it back and I STILL REMEMBER.

I'm really surprised by the low-star ratings for this movie. It's one of my favourites, having previously read and enjoyed the book by Armistead Maupin that it's based on. This movie is definitely a slow-burn, and if you like mysteries and movies that don't over-expose every detail of a story, you will enjoy this. Toni Collette is fantastic in it.

I applaud the attempt of this production. It was however flat and quite predictable. It highlights how sad and desparate lonely people can be. For a better example of this, watch Catfish. (Which is indeed an actual Documentry)

I was not real impressed with the Armistead Maupin novel or with this movie version. I've had these kinds of relationships on-line so it was all pretty obvious, no surprizes. What does surprize me is that in his new book "Imminent Outlaws" Christopher Bram praises Maupin lavishly, and singles out this title as his best work. Did I miss something?

a good movie yet odd...almost on the verge of too much interest, facts which lead to little or no conclusion, yet enough {$} to make a movie???

Williams is always good, but he falls victim to a bad screenplay and a lackluster production! Avoid this one unless you have trouble falling asleep!
