"Eric Connelly is crumbling under the weight of his dad's expectations. He can't seem to live up to the "Connelly Man" standards--but when he meets the mysterious, free-spirited Jordan Grant, his dad's rules seem so much less important than they used to. Jordan and Eric--now "E"--join up with two of the most popular girls in school to combat their rich-kid boredom. But as Jordan seduces E further, the group starts to kill time in more nefarious ways. It's Jordan who escalates the pack's dares from mostly harmless jaunts like joyrides in boosted cars and Bling Ring-style luxury shoplifting sprees into more violent activities. Eric is intoxicated. swept up in the pack's activities, even as Paige and Haley start to have reservations about what they've been doing. When Jordan starts talking bigger--what's a little bomb building between friends?--E must decide if he's just too far down the rabbit hole to back out. From the author of How to Win at High School comes a wicked, irreverent story of rich kids gone amok that will leave readers at the edge of their seats"-- Provided by publisher.

Eric Connelly has done everything he can to make his father proud. Coming from a long line of politicians, he is expected to follow in their footsteps. His father is a senator, and naturally, Eric is expected to become president. However, beneath his straight-A facade, Eric is collapsing.
That is, until he meets Jordan Grant: the town’s golden boy and the secret leader of the Suicide Pack, a group of kids dedicated on getting revenge on their spoiled rich-kid city by destroying it. Soon, Eric finds himself caught up in Jordan - and the Pack’s antics. From robbing high-end fashion boutiques to trashing magazine studios, there seems to be nothing too dangerous or daring for the Pack. What begins as simple teenage rebellion and pranks escalates quickly to lethal crimes and deadly scandals. And soon enough, the Pack decides the only way to truly fix their town is to destroy it completely. They want to blow it all down to pieces. All they need is a bomb.
Fast-paced, powerful and intense, “The Fixes” is “Heathers” meets “The Godfather” at breakneck pace. (4.5/5 stars)

This novel hooked me on page one. Strong characters and an engaging plot. The writing style or format--short chapters, lots of action, lean prose--is a bit James Patterson-y, and it's 500-odd pages long, but don't let that be off-putting. I notice it's listed as a young adult/YA novel, but some of the themes--a strong gay angle, a group of teens setting off bombs--makes it feel more like a adult thriller novel.
