After nearly a decade of lukewarm-at-best releases and an unstable career trajectory, Heaven Upside Down is a pleasant return to form for Manson. Though the record lacks the searing angst of his golden years, the sound is not without teeth, aided by the songwriting of producer Tyler Bates. Songs "KILL4ME", "Tattooed In Reverse", and "Threats Of Romance" exhibit the swagger and grimace we've come to know from Manson, with "KILL4ME" being the standout single of this record.

A major complaint that comes to mind is the trite use of overly simplistic and unimaginative anti-religious content in his lyrics. Manson keeps employing the use of lyrical content that may have been viewed as heinous and blasphemous in the late 90s during his come up, but in the modern times these stabs at society and culture simply seem played out. A new take on his unique, shock-rock perspective would be nice.

Overall, an entertaining listen that sits nicely in the the latter half of Manson's career.
