Louis’ parents have recently divorced, so he and his brother are shuttled between his mother’s new apartment in the city and his father’s house in the country. While Louis does his best to shield his brother from the emotional realities inherent in the dissolution of a marriage, he can’t ignore his father’s melancholy and alcoholism. Having witnessed the breakdown of love, Louis is reluctant to approach Billie, an outspoken classmate who seems to fear nothing, whom he adores. This is a tale of family, growing up, and bravery.

A powerful graphic novel that takes an in-depth look at how alcoholism affects a young family.

A story, sensitively told, about a family and separation and sadness and alcoholism.

Nice illustrations, but the story and characters are very childish. For preteens (but I sense they would be bored). And two female authors creating a male protagonist? Not authentic or credible.

Touching story about a family's ongoing struggle, as well as the tragic consequences of giving in to your fears and weaknesses vs the benefits of being brave and taking a chance. Highly recommend for tweens and teenagers, and I would also recommend the same authors' other graphic novel, Jane, the Fox & Me.

Amazingly beautiful illustrations! The contrast of grey and color bring this emotional graphic novel that accompanies Louis and Truffle as they process their parents separation.

A stunningly illustrated and quiet graphic novel about the power of family and how sadness impacts children.
