This movie stars Mel Gibson and is about a complete womanizer who gains the ability to hear what women are thinking and finally understand what it is that they want. He decides to use this new found ability to snag his female boss out of the job that he wants. The movie was definitely heavily based on stereotypes and was mildly condescending in the way that it portrayed men and their ability to understand women. The film was entertaining and you did begin to care about the story, but the characters had no true layers to them. I would rate this movie 3/5 stars. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Sadly, it had some sexual content, and also a little language and profanity.

But I loved the story. Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt worked well together.

Warning: Has a mildly sad ending.

Worth a watch.

Oh boy....Rewatching this movie 17 years after it’s original release, didn’t give me the same feeling of funny and romantic.....Movie has many comedic moments, and it was packaged to be a romantic comedy, but it was a call for change, how society sees and values women of today’s world.
After all the message of this movie is the most important, “ It’s never too late to do right thing!”

I used to like this and though it was a fun film, but re-watching as an adult I am troubled by the moral implications (within the movie itself). And even worse is that Mel Gibson is a horrible person in real life, even worse than the character is at the beginning of the movie.

What women really want is for the racist, sexist, and washed up Mel Gibson to stop making movies.

A cocky, chauvinistic ad agency exec magically acquires the ability to hear what women are thinking. He puts this to especially good use with his new superior (Hunt), whose job he was in line to get. Then competition turns into romance.
