I sat down to watch this movie expecting not to enjoy it because the trailer wasn't great. Now it's one of my favorites! It has it's flaws but it's a fun sci-fi/ fantasy adventure with a good cast. Give it a try.

interesting idea, and executed fairly well. it does seem to have an underlying SJW message to subliminally indoctrinate its viewers about the evils of the UK with an emphasis on racial characterizations and SJW tropes. as such, it seems to be a commentary on colonialism and the evils of the anglosaxons. though, this is not explicitly stated, it is hinted at throughout. besides that, it does run a little longer than i had to.

This movie has cut and pasted scenes and ideas from Blade Runner, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Matrix, and from movies from the early 60's and beyond. The music is often the same with slight variations. It even uses parts of the Game of Thrones.

"The Crimson Permanent Assurance" by Terry Gilliam is actually the basis for this movie. I recommend the The Crimson Permanent Assurance. This thing, not so much.

At first it's OK and laughable but as the show progresses it just gets worse and worse and just when you think it couldn't get any worse, it does.

I think that watching this movie requires the application of chemicals that suspend reality and disbelief.

Um. About all I can say is that other than the roaming cities, this premise has been done a thousand times. Next.

I saw this in theaters and it was terrible. There were characters introduced and expected they would have more of a role later on but you don't see them again. Then there was the fact that they had sooo many aspects that were from other movies. The effects were the only part that were decent. I haven't read the book but I feel like if I had I would be more disappointed than I was then with the mortal instruments movie. My friend that chose to go see mortal engines apologized for picking this movie.

Good movie. I don't get why this movie bombed at the box office when other inferior films do better. Still, the visuals are great and the storyline is enough to keep you interested for the 2+ hours. Plus you have Hugo Weaving playing another bad guy.

More please. Well done, close to the book. If you want more, read all the books. You'll have the visuals from the movie for your imagination to use as a jumping of point.

this movie is something truly extraordinary on a visual level. unlike Aquaman though the story is more the just a shallow (pun intended) but still beautiful world. this would make a perfect DR Who story. it combines the insanity of mad max, ups it to the nth degree with actual mobile cities that actually are somehow look real and livable (if you ignore the insanity of the engineering involved). the fact that most of what you see is a REAL not CGI set is really impressive. you have a very diverse array of characters. frankly i love this movie because i can distinguish science-fantasy from science fiction and enjoy both if done right.

I had no experience with the book series so I didn't understand the plot until late in the movie. Effects were good but the characters were hard to cheer for or against.

I thought this was....OK. It wasn't great, but it wasn't completely horrible. It had a cool visual look and some good effects. The characters and story seemed cliched and the main villain was ho-hum. The moving cities didn't seem to make a lick of sense but they were cool to look at. The whole thing feels like it's made up of familiar bits and pieces of other, better movies. If you are in the mood to just zone out and not think too hard and watch a visually appealing but dumb film, then this movie could be an OK choice.

Intro at the opening:

60 minutes is all it took for the Ancients to bring humanity to the brink of extinction. Those who survived mobilized their settlements to begin life anew
upon a poisoned Earth. In the hunt for food and fuel, the weak perished, and the strong grew ever more powerful. Until a new age arose, the Age of the Great Predator Cities of the West.

You're just a skivvy from the lower tiers with no family and no prospects.

Now, she may look a little tatty around the edges, but she's a little ripper. So, who'll give me 12 quirkes? Eh? Oh, come on. Last chance to secure this genuine antique.
===
Trust me as you once did. I can save us both.
-Save us from what? The weapon's destroyed. The wall is still standing. You've failed.
Failed? You really don't know me, do you?
===
How can a society so advanced, so scientific, be so stupid?
-Well, no more stupid than people today. They just had far worse weapons
and far more sophisticated control systems.
