I Love You So Mochi is a deliciously sweet and delectably charming novel. I was really excited to read this one just of the cover alone. Kimi Nakamura, our main character, is an artistic genius, just like her mother. Although being naturally gifted doesn’t mean that you love your craft. When she wasn’t motivated to paint, she draws and designs clothing. I absolutely adore how the author describes her beautiful creations. It’s as if they’re right in front of me. Kimi always loved making bold and unique outfits for her and her friends, Atsuko and Bex. Ever since she dropped out of her advanced art class, she avoided telling her mother. This is mostly due to the fact that she doesn’t want to disappoint her. But then her worst fears come to fruition and suddenly she doesn’t know what to do anymore. After being given a plane ticket to Japan to meet her grandparents, she leaps at the chance to finally figure out who she is and what she wants. When she lands in Japan, she discovers that she ran from one problem, only to confront another. This book is an absolute heartthrob that will make you smile. 4.5/5 stars - Maade, SAPL Read It & Review Contributor

This book made me want to go back to Kyoto, a beautiful city with so much good food! Although it seems obvious to the reader what Kimi's path should be, nevertheless the romance between her and Akira is sweet, as is her budding relationship with her new grandparents.

Review excerpt: "'I Love You So Mochi' is an adorable YA with a romance in it, although it’s more of a coming of age story than a romance novel. In this book, Kimi, a Japanese-American high school senior, visits Japan to Find Herself. In the process she connects with her Japanese grandparents, meets A BOY, sees cool stuff, makes things, and eats fantastic food. Kimi is a likeable and engaging heroine, everything is gorgeous, and now I’m hungry and want to go to Japan. If this was the book’s goal, it has succeeded."
