a few interesting stories.
I especially liked the one about the cruise ship.

Great essays.

Tony Bourdain writes the same way he talks -- it's highly entertaining, irreverent and deliciously caustic.

"My Manhattan" is his great homage to his city; a must read if you like to know what to do when you're in New York City next time.

If you watch the TV show, you will see that this very much is Anthony Bourdain's personality. That's both a good thing and a bad thing! He arrogant, opinionated, short-sighted, and snobbish. He's also funny, intelligent, and entertaining. This is a series of already-printed essays, so it runs the gammit. The non-fiction story at the end demonstrates why his is better at non-fiction than fiction. All in all, I'd give this book a B-.

Anthony is totally irreverant, worldly, but talented and knowledgeable about all kinds of cuisines because he's personally experienced them all over the world. Sometimes you can picture him sneering at the middle classes of North American, blindly accepting of their horrible fast food and uncaring ways in what they stuff down their throats. Arrogant? Hmm, yes, but, you know, he's right.
