For everyone who enjoyed this movie look for another great Canadian movie Lilies. It is available at EPL. I would love to see a director's cut of the movie. CRAZY is too familiar to me coming from a French-Canadians family. All of the characters are very real. It does have English sub-titles.

Simply put this movie was AWESOME! While I was a mere child during this period, I felt like I was transported to a time I actually remember. This movie portrayed more truth than fiction of the way families "dealt" with this subject. Fortunately people are more open-minded and more accepting but there is still a lot of work to do. Oh and the soundtrack had me wishing for tie-dye shirts, bell bottoms and platform shoes.

Wonderful film about growing up and finding oneself. Music is a central theme, and the tracks selected for the soundtrack capture the 60s, 70s, and 80s perfectly.

very good movie from Quebec director Jean-Marc Valée about a
loving and chaotic French-Canadian Catholic family of 5 boys in the 1960's and 70's.

Valee has gone on to direct The Young Victoria, Cafe de Flore, Dallas Buyers Club and Wild since 2009.

Wow. Wasn't expecting too much out of this film...nor would anyone based upon the synopsis. But it is much more than a little "coming out" story. It's a truly loving memoir of a family and a time period that is remarkably specific. It's this specificity that lifts it above the routine. It's the dash of Catholic mysticism, the allure of androgyny in the 70's, the poisoned apple of parental approval....all whilst drawing a group portrait that is anything but generic. It's all about the important dichotomies: love/hate, acceptance/rejection, spiritual/corporeal, mother/father, disco/rock. All with a kind heart...and glory be! A sense of humor.

Terrible movie. I couldn't wait for the end of it. It focused so much on the denial of the main character's being gay. The redemptive part was two minutes long.

Terrific film - watch it with your kids if they are over 18 (and by some strange coincidence available to watch a film with you!) or teens over 16 could handle it (but NOT in company of parents!). Family relationships - rough and tumble, strained or affectionate are all loving and redemptive Its a coming of age story. for more than one stage of life.

Original, interesting, and a very well-made film. All the main characters are well-developed and I felt invested in what happens to them all the way to the end.
