The End of Her
A Novel
Large Print - 2020
"Stephanie and Patrick are adjusting to life with their colicky twin babies. The girls are a handful, but Stephanie doesn't mind being a stay-at-home mom, taking care of them while Patrick does the nine to five to pay the bills. When a woman from Patrick's past drops in on them unexpectedly, raising questions about his late first wife, Stephanie supports her husband wholeheartedly. She knows the car accident all those many years ago was just that--an accident. But Erica is persistent, and now she's threatening to go to the police. Patrick is afraid his job--and his reputation--will be at risk if he doesn't put an end to Erica's questioning immediately. And when the police start digging, Stephanie's trust in her husband begins to falter and Patrick is primed to lose everything he loves. As their marriage crumbles, Stephanie feels herself coming unglued, and soon she isn't sure what--or who--to believe. Now the most important thing is to protect her girls, but at what cost?"-- Provided by publisher.

Add a CommentA pretty good thriller which is a fast and easy read with lots of twists that keep you guessing til the end. It was a bit repetitive with the mom complaining all the time how she was sleep deprived and the babies wouldn't stop crying, it got to be annoying. This is the fifth book I have read by Shari Lapena. Although I didn't mind it, it was not one of my favourites by her.
This could have been an excellent thriller but lost its mark to repetitiveness
This one was okay but not her best. It was very repetitive constantly being reminded as a reader that the main character was tired because of having twins. Like other reviewers suggested, I am not sure why the main character didn't hire some help to assist with the babies considering that money was not an issue for this character. I will also agree that the characters were not likeable at all and by the end I didn't care as much as I wanted to as a reader, but stuck with it regardless. I prefer some earlier works by this author.
Average thriller. The new mother was so tired, exhausted, weary, strung out, etc. I wanted to ask why she did not use her trust fund millions to hire a sitter, nanny, or relief worker. None of the characters was very likeable.
A twisty thriller that will keep you guessing...
Omg. I don’t know how or who recommended this book but they should be shot. Utterly simplistic and no sentence is more than ten words. Please don’t waste your time as I did.
As always this author's books are always quick and easy reads. I liked the book but it wasn't my favourite read from this author. I've noticed that her writing styles seem to be repetitive and I wish she would shake it up a bit. Spoiler below if you haven't read any of her books but her style is...
(suspect convinces the reader they are innocent for 80% of the book and then we find out otherwise towards the end. Unsuspecting person snaps and commits a new crime out of nowhere.)
“Stephanie has twins and she’s exhausted”. “Stephanie is exhausted because she has twins”. “Colicky, colicky, red eyed, no sleep. Twins. I’m in despair. So tired.” On. Every. Single. Page.
On the edge of my seat - and - surprised! Good read.
Lost of twists & turns. I found the behaviour of the husband & wife frustrating. The ending was a little disappointing. It seemed like a lot of ideas jammed together.
