The story of a middle-class British family and their struggle to survive during WWII. Mrs. Miniver nobly tends her rose garden while her stalwart husband participates in the evacuation at Dunkirk. She personifies grace under pressure as the Miniver family huddles in their bomb shelter during a Luftwaffe attack, while she is forced to confront a downed Nazi paratrooper in her kitchen, and while she is preparing for her annual flower show despite the exigencies of bombing raids. Even the vicars climactic call to arms from the pulpit of his ruined church seems to bring out the best in people.

Great classic. Greer Garson is fantastic in this. It really helps to give a sense of wartime England.

The thing that most impresses me about this film is that William Wyler specifically made it in order to directly motivate Americans to join the war effort against the Nazis, and incredibly, he achieved what he set out to do, as it was highly influential. His later film, "The Best Years of Our Lives", is one of my all-time favorites.

Still one of my all time favourite classics featuring a family who are hugely affected by the war and featuring Greer Garson who does a marvelous job.

Not a bad movie, but I thought the bit near the end was stupid. Why did you stop the car? Just keep driving! Nuh.

You might think I'm a bit kooky, but this is my favourite movie of all time.

Oh my goodness an amazing classic! It really sucks though because after this movie was finished Greer Garson actually married the guy that played her son in the movie! :( A classic though-watch.

(Carol and Vin have entered a heated debate about aristocracy and the poor) Carol Beldon: "...What have *you* been doing?" Vin Miniver: "I? I, uh..." Carol Beldon: "I see... Just talk. Well, that's alright -- it's easy." Vin Miniver: "Listen, I didn't say anything about-" Carol Beldon: "-Oh, don't apologize! I know how comfortable it is to curl up with a nice, fat book, full of big words and think you're going to solve all the problems of the universe. But you're not, you know. A bit of action is required now and then." Vin Miniver: "Action! Well, if that's what you and your class are asking for, maybe you'll get it one of these days." Carol Beldon: "Maybe. But not from the talkers." (Vin storms off in a huff)
