Modernity has its virtues, but can be a bit much at times. It's good to go retro once in a while. No cell phones in 1958. News, weather, and sports is delivered just once a day, in the newspaper. And eating an 18 cent hamburger at a fast food place is at most an occasional treat. Most meals are eaten at home. Which is also where the doctor comes to deliver treatment when the kids get a sore throat. Three of my favorites from Season 2 are: "Beaver's Ring" (aired Nov 13, 1958), Beaver gets a ring stuck on his finger, and is a bit concerned when the doctor tells him "we'll have to cut it off", believing the doctor is referring to cutting off his finger rather than the ring; "The Pipe" (aired November 27, 1958), Beaver experiments with smoking; In "Beaver Plays Hooky" (aired January 22, 1959), he and friend Larry decide to skip school, lay low to avoid discovery, and wind up having their cover blown being questioned about why they aren't in school by a local daytime TV show. Not a good way to conduct a covert operation.
