They are the global superclass, and they are shaping the history of our time. What happens behind closed-door meetings in Davos or aboard corporate jets--conspiracy or collaboration? And who sets the rules for a group of 6000 people who seem to operate beyond national laws? Drawn from exclusive interviews and in-depth reporting, Superclass offers an unprecedented analysis of the connections and trends within the global community of leaders, a privileged group likely to alter our world.

My major problem with Rothkopf is how he soft peddles and apology for the plutocracy - - almost genuflecting before his so-called Global Superclass; a more accurate description would be "Transnational Capitalist Class." He actually mentions Peter G. Peterson's Blackstone Group (long the richest privte equity firm/leveraged buyout firm in existence) a most rare event among Wall Street-financed books spewing forth today. But does he mention their nefarious and global financial fraud? Does he mention the hedge funds naked short selling which has stolen from - - and destroyed - - numerous publicly traded small business (as in over 7,000 in the past few years)? Does he mention how hedge funds are cleverly unregulated, and that the largest hedge funds are typically owned by the largest banks? A book perhaps worth reading, but not buying. The originator of the blurbs on the back cover in praise of this book say it all: Ernesto Zedillo, who was recently requested for extradition by the Mexican government, denied by the US government; Robert Hormats, Goldman Sachs guy (presently a member of the Obama state department, appointed by Hillary Clinton); Larry Summers, one of the architects of the global economic meltdown on the anti-regulatory and anti-oversight side; and, Nancy Birdsall, presently involved in the privatization of cities in Honduras and Guatemala (how would you like that in your own state???).
