The remarkable history of Alex Haley's paternal side. Queen is the daughter of a slave and a plantation owner. During the turbulent decades of the antebellum South, the Civil War, Reconstruction, and beyond, she searches for a home in the two cultures and at times is shunned by both. This movie version is absolutely an EDUCATIONAL TOOL. Halle Berry as Queen, in her role as a truly credible and outstanding lead actress, was OUTSTANDING The method acting was hats off. Every line,of dialogue was delivered effortlessly and with precision. I first watched Queen when it debuted as a mini-series but I was quite young and did not fully grasp the concepts. But as an adult, this story totally engaged me. And as Queen's life unfolded, I feel this movie needs to be part of the schools curriculum.

Ho-hum slavery to post slavery period piece starring a very young Halle Berry among others. Really drags out what could have been a pretty good story if it was cut down to a manageable size. The acting was good to fair and the aging effects were pretty good. Only watch if you just have to see the other side of Roots.
