A beautiful movie with original, interesting story and with a great chemistry between the main protagonists. Well done, believable love scenes too.

this movie really sticks to the time period. i'm not really sure whether i liked it as an overall movie, because it was kind of confusing and a little slow in some parts. i'm still trying to figure out the end... i guess i'll never know!

Got this movie because it was a remake of a French film called The Return of Martin Guerre....a story about a French peasant that returns to his village after quite a number of years serving in the military.

He comes back a very different man...polite and civil. Family and friends begin to think he is an impostor. He has to go to trial accused of killing himself!?!

This movie is set in the American Civil War era. It kinda follows the storyline above but the combo of long, drawn out scenes and a stupidly happy ending (in true American style) puts this flick in the "Now there is 2 hours I'll never get back" category.
