This intimate portrait of jazz pianist Oscar Peterson describes his determination to achieve self-respect and recognition as a Canadian. Through archival photos and film footage, plus interviews with other great black jazz artists, Peterson's struggle to overcome prejudice at home and in the United States is movingly recounted. Peterson's memories are captured as he travels by train home to Montreal for a family reunion after an absence of 40 years.

Well paced, informative, though a bit dated (made in 1992). Good grief the sacrifices he had to make in order to make it! But what an accomplishment.
