Steeltown, 1946. Three young boys make a gruesome discovery - they find the butchered torso of a man dumped on outskirts of town. Detective work reveals it to be the remains of streetcar conductor, John Dick. All clues point to his wife Evelyn, the femme fatale of the city and party girl extraordinaire. She is 26, staggeringly beautiful, and by her own admission has slept with over two hundred of the richest and most powerful scions in the city. The police paint her as a black widow, the evidence - a blood soaked car, a cache of hidden guns, a quasi-butcher shop, human ashes in the furnace and the remains of a baby boy - are stacked against her. She is arrested, convicted and sentenced to hang. All seems cut and dry. But something is not so "neat and tidy" with the police's evidence...could there be someone else behing the grisly murders?
