The theme of this program is the power of nature and human attempts to control it. It begins with human efforts through cloud seeding to circumvent floods and property damage resulting from violent hailstorms. 'Summer of Fire' shows the forest fires in the North Thompson and Okanagan areas of BC and the loss of hundreds of homes in Kelowna in 2003. Dust storms and grasshopper infestation resulting from drought in the prairies are examined through historical footage from the 1930s, with the blame put squarely on poor farming techniques. The Quebec ice storm concludes the program.
