Ryan, Wade and Emmit attend their first day of high school and immediately meet up with Filkins, the school bully who comes off like a little Hannibal Lecter. Before they become completely engulfed in Filkins' reign of terror, they seek out some protection by placing an ad in Soldier of fortune magazine. Their best response and the cheapest comes from Drillbit Taylor, a down-on-his-luck soldier of fortune who lives a homeless existence on the beach. He enrolls them in a sort of physical and mental training, steeling them, and possibly himself, for the ultimate clash against the forces keeping them down.

I thought I had seen the worst Owen Wilson movie in "Me and Marley". - But no, this "Drillbit Taylor" has to be one of the most devastatingly stupid movies I have ever seen and a new low point for Owen - My 12 year old grandson asked to see it and even he thought it was totally silly.

Had I read the other comments, I would never have watched "DRILLBIT." I was delighted and I enjoyed it.

Cliche-ridden plot with Owen Wilson serving up the usual stock character & juvenile gags. But his teenage co-stars Nate Hartley & especially Troy Gentile turn in surprisingly decent performances.

Drillbit Taylor (2008) *** 109 min. starring Owen Wilson – I had very low expectations for this film but I was pleasantly surprised. This is a more intelligent, charming, and less vulgar teen film with funny teen actors and an interesting premise. The story revolves around a trio of nerdy kids that are constantly abused by two older bullies. After numerous attacks, they decide on hiring a body guard – enter stage door left, Owen Wilson. The interview process was fun to watch with some interesting cameos. Good story and funny comedy makes this a good picture. Enjoy.
