SummaryAdd a Summary
As a teenager, Michael Calce was a computer programmer and hacker, using the ‘handle’ MafiaBoy. He used DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks to bring down several big sites including Yahoo, Dell, and eBay. A DDoS attack clogs up Internet traffic and stops the sites from working, temporarily disabling them. MafiaBoy was eventually discovered to be the person responsible for the attacks, and Michael was arrested. The attacks resulted in improved internet security, because they pointed out that a 15 year old boy could bring down Yahoo for an hour. Michael now works in internet security, working to prevent similar attacks.
