I love vintage crime/noir/hardboiled novels, so I'm always happy to stumble upon a new one. Hard Case crime has reissued this 1969 novel with a sweet, retro pulp-y cover. Westlake was a prolific writer, who wrote the Parker series under the name Richard Stark, wrote "The Hot Rock," which was filmed with Robert Redford, and did the screenplays for "The Grifters" and the cult horror film "The Stepfather."

One of Westlake's earlier works, showing the trademark wit, grit, and story creativity. Also the gentleness of the book, in a "noir" environment.
