Rotolo has written a moving account of the fertile years just before the circus of the 1960s was in full swing with Bob Dylan as the anointed ringmaster. She chronicles the backstory of Greenwich Village in the early days, when Dylan was honing his music skills and she was in the ring with him.

Lovely memoir of the time. Strong voice.

Reads like a whack-a-mole game, though. Something comes up, then something else, then something else, then back to the first topic. A good once over to add a stronger narrative (even some chronology) would make this even better.

A Freewheelin' Time - a memoir of Greenwich Village, lower Manhattan as if it were Paris in the '20s. This time music is the medium. There is no doubt in this book that Bob Dylan loved her.

Read it and then listen to his music from the early 60's. Another Side of Bob Dylan and The Times They Are A Changin'. To whom else could he be singing?

Who can figure out Robert Allen Zimmerman? His former girlfriend, who writes very well about the early '60s in Greenwich Village, sheds some light. I was there; I knew the scene and she is giving a very accurate peek at what it was for artistic young women. I loved reading this memoir; alas, Suze died in February.

All about a "girl from the north country" , who lived a short time of her brief life with a fictional person named Dylan and did't think twice because it was "Alright." Ode to the village!
