A mysterious hired gun has a barcode tattoo on his bald head. In lieu of a name, he is number 47. Living like a chaste monk while slipping past borders to kill his targets, 47 moves like a determined shark. He speaks softly to his contact at the enigmatic "Organization," which raises cast-off children to become well-paid assassins. Fruitlessly pursued by an Interpol cop who can never get sovereign governments to cooperate, 47 has no trouble slipping in and out of countries to ply his trade. That is until he is double-crossed on a mission in Russia with the shooting a national leader who is promptly replaced by a lookalike double. Suddenly on the run, 47 has to retrace his steps and formulate a lethal plan for extricating himself from a trap. Caught in the chaos is the lovely Nika who is forced into sex slavery by 47's new enemies and the one person who seems uniquely qualified to break through 47's many personal barriers.

The story and character were based on the Danish's video game of the same name. Too bad that the producer/director did not adapt the appearance of #47 from the game's animated look which was too conspicuous for a real life assassin. Also, disappointed that Nika was not given a more substantial role in the scheme of things other than as eye-candy, often skimpily dressed and a couple of frontal nude scenes (thank goodness they decided against the alternate ending - see extras.) The story was pretty complex and great as an action fantasy film.

This film should definately be played on your HOMETHEATER. It's a good action movie with scenes of gunplay and sword fighting. But since i'm a sound freak i must say there is one scene i really liked. A huge helicopter begans firing it's mini gun into a room that our hitman is in. I love the sound and visual of the mini gun as it destroys the room completely. But there are other scenes that have good audio and sound nice on your system. I like this movie and it's a part of my collection. I give this movie 4 stars. Good action, weapons, fighting, and a very cool HitMan. large bag of Wise potato chips, white cheddar popcorn, and a brewski.

Enjoyed the action quite a lot, but found the plot & characters thin and so-so acting

Intro of the Hitman:
The man you've been chasing is a killer, a ghost. Rumor has it that he works for a group known only as The Organization. It's so secret no one knows it exists. It takes no sides, yet it has ties to every government. It's sole purpose is the training and conditioning of professional killers. These men are selected at birth - rejects, orphans. All of them unwanted and disposable. They are made experts in every aspect of combat and programmed for one purpose -
to kill. The man you have been chasing for the last three years, Inspector, is the very best of them.

Nika to #47: You're really quite charming when you aren't killing people.

#47: Nika, ask for the check.
Nika: You scratch what I said about you being charming.

Tovarishch: So... tell me, what exactly have you done to find him (#47?)
Yuri: It seems if we wait long enough, he will find you.
Tovarishch: He will find us.
Yuri: The Organization has sent in their best operatives.
Tovarishch: I know. Don't let your incompetence hinder them.
