This was perfect... perhaps to cerebral for some but definitely true to HULK comics.

For all those of us who believed that Ang Lee could "do no wrong", could master any genre, any culture...with sensitivity and breathtaking aesthetic values, we should be thankful for this stiff. Boy, is this BAD. Stinko. All might have been forgiven (even the awful special effects) if he wasn't so INSISTENT that what the comic book genre needed was scrupulously filled-in back story and realistic motivation for the characters. So instead of cartoon-like motives and realistic effects, we get exactly the opposite. And GUESS WHAT? It don't work. But if Lee had had an unbroken string of triumphs, perhaps his previous and subsequent work wouldn't feel quite so miraculous. He can't do it all. (And that's just fine),

Hulk Smash lots of things, and sometimes that's enough. If you don't need plot, acting, or anything.

In New Mexico Bruce Banner (Eric Bana), a scientist working on Gamma radiation with Betty Ross (Jennifer Connelly), the daughter of General Ross (Sam Elliot) discover that Bruce has genetic modifications that were passed down by his father David Banner (Nick Nolte). Eventually Bruce's modifications are enhanced by a malfunction from a fried circuit in the Gamma radiation room that Bruce attempts to fix. Bruce later on ends up in a hospital from the Gamma radiation and starts to ponder about his past, which than angers him and this is where Bruce discovers he is the Hulk for the first time. After Bruce's first situation this leads to General Ross having a conflict and trying to confine Bruce not only because what he is but also the past relationship General Ross and Bruce's father David Banner had. This movie was directed by Ang Lee and debuted June 20, 2003. I thought this movie was amazing, it had a great story-line that was action-packed and is similar to the Hulk comics. I recommend this movie to all teens and superhero fans, I think it is a superhero movie that is unique compared to the other superhero films like Iron Man or Captain America because the hulk is looked at much differently than other superhero's as many people refer hulk as a monster.

While the movie itself is fun to watch, the sound mixing on the DVD is horrible. We had to turn the sound up as high as it would go and still had a hard time hearing the movie.

It was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained and interesting. But it was NOT worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box.

I was expecting a lot from this movie. Sadly, I was dissapointed. The storyline was pretty lame and the ending completely lame. There were a few good fight scenes, but the rest was slow and not so fun.

David Banner is a genetics researcher who has figured out how to mutate human DNA so that the body can heal quickly from an injury or wound. He wants to use his research to create supersoldiers for the U.S. Army, but is denied permission to do it, so he experiments on himself. Once his wife gives birth to their son Bruce, David realizes his mutant DNA has been passed on and attempts to find a cure for his son's condition. In 1973, the government, represented by a then-Lieutenant Colonel "Thunderbolt" Ross, shuts down his research after learning of his dangerous experiments. David, in a fit of rage, causes a massive explosion of the facilities' gamma reactor, and attempts to kill his young son, accidentally killing his wife when she interferes. Banner is then put into a mental hospital, while 4-year-old Bruce is sent into foster care and adopted, suppressing the memories of his biological parents, believing them both to be deceased. The events surrounding his mother's death leave Bruce unable to recall the details of his early childhood. He remembers his childhood in dreams, but never retains these memories after waking.
