Temple of Doom is every bit as good as the original movie, but for completely different reasons. And yet, it works just as good.

The movie that lead to the creation of the all powerful PG-13 rating category. You can see that as a 'good' for creating a movie category that allows movies to appeal to wider audiences, instead of "families with kids/kids" and "adults". You can also see that as a 'bad', for creating a rating that movie studios would lean on so hard for cash that the rated-R blockbuster is nearly a thing of the past. It's a mixed bag.
Temple of Doom was my favorite Indiana Jones movie until I realized how many cringe moments there are in the film. I won't get into them, and they are definitely things that were seen as acceptable and common in that era of film-making, but it's hard not to notice them when watching as an adult. With that said, I still like it more than any of the other Indiana Jones movies with the exception of 'The Last Crusade'.

Contains some brief strong suggestive content. It is also violent for just a PG rating. It was pretty Funny. Recommended.

I haven't seen this one yet, but from reading parental reviews online, it looks pretty dark. A man being slowly lowered into lava and Indy being tortured by a voodoo doll controlled by a child who loves seeing someone in pain? Sheesh. Maybe sometime, but not now.

Great beginning, great end, and a slow, dark middle.

By far the least popular of the Harrison Ford "Indiana" series. And for a good reason. While the first 8 minutes catch your att'n, then follows an entire 45 minute slow and dull segment with a confused, uninspired plot, and little in the way of viewing merit. Add to this the dark nature of the film, and the actual darkness of the cinematography, making it diffiucult to see what's happening, this is a poor effort on the director's and producer's part. Mr. Ford continues his good acting job following his "Raiders" lead, but the other two main characters -- a small boy and the female lead -- their acting skills are definitely not up to the task. Both come off over the top comic-book-ish at best. The contrast between the acting skills of the female lead in this film and Karen Allen, who played the female lead in the prior "Raiders" film, is, well, stark. Ms. Allen's performance in "Raiders" was far superior in every conceivable figure of merit. On the plus side, besides Mr. Ford and the first 8-10 minutes, there are also some good action scenes near the end. At best reservedly recommended, provided you fast forward through the middle 45 boring minutes.

I thought this was the funniest one of the bunch.

This is Spielberg's worst film. It is slow up until the climatic action sequence.

Archeologist Indiana Jones ventures into the realm of cult sacrifices in this second installment of the "franchise." A darker film than the first with less comic relief. Willie Scott is just annoying, where Marion Ravenwood was industrious. Short Round provides some comic relief, but it's not enough to float this movie any higher than Raiders. It's still a good entertaining film with notable score tunes like "Parade of the Slave Children" by John Williams.
