Appreciating life through taking time to appreciate the senses through making lovely food.

If you're looking for a fluffy, feel good novel about food, this is the book for you. The premise is typical for the food novel - food = magic, food translates emotions, works wonders, is the ultimate language of love. The author has a definite talent for warm, cozy turns of phrase that will satisfy readers looking for a safe, comfy book without much complexity to curl up with. It strikes me as the kind of book readers of women's magazines or of Orangette's food blog would adore. It left me luke-warm, at moments appreciating the author's talent, but at others feeling bored and irritated at the its formulaic nature. The audio-version, read by Cassandra Campbell, is performed in a spirit befitting to the book - sweet, light, and feelgood.

Overly sentimental tripe! I couldn't even get through the first CD - awful! EVERYTHING was about the blends of this with that and how PERFECT it made something else - yeck. Where are these people living??? It was some over emotional statement about marriage and motherhood that had me give it up.

I loved this book. It is warm and funny but will make you cry in parts. I would recommend it highly.

A classier, more poetic version of Quentins.
