It's a shame this series only lasted for 19 episodes. It's about as perfect as a series could be.
This TV dramedy series captures teen angst and their coping parents & teachers really well, especially in the beginning. As a man watching it at age 38 and now at 58, I still feel my heart strings pulled strongly by the great writing and acting -- especially good are the episodes written by creator Winnie Holzman. (In fact, you could skip the other episodes and not miss much.) The series ends suddenly on the 19th episode (cancelled) with plot threads unresolved, but you can imagine where the story lines might lead. Claire Danes comes of age wonderfully in this affecting production that makes high school seem like yesterday. Also, don't miss her in the greatly affecting movie "Temple Grandin" (2010).
Great memories. But I seem to recall there were more episodes than on the discs. Perhaps I'm just being hopeful...
My favorite childhood show and will always be one of my favorites! Most realistic television show about being a teenage girl
If you're human and ever went to high school, you must see MSCL. This is television at its best. The writing is smart, it looks wonderful, and the characters are loveable and unforgettable. I went into mourning when it was over.
Always loved this show but can't seem to find the rest of the episodes to watch!
My So-Called Life is maybe the best and most realistic teen drama I've ever seen. I can relate to all the characters, and the plot is interesting and realistic. It's funny and smart and at times poignant - I'd definetly recommend it to anyone-no matter what age or gender.
