Balian of Ibelin: What is Jerusalem worth?
Saladin: Nothing.
[walks away]
Saladin: Everything!
Godfrey of Ibelin: "...Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong. That is your oath." (Backhands a shocked Balian in the face) "And that's so you remember it." Hospitaller: "Arise a knight and Baron of Ibelin."

Add a CommentGood, solid movie.
A total pile of crap. Formulaic, disjointed, historically false (eg weaponry)...where to begin? The dialogue is nonsensical with the baron telling his son to be "bring peace to mankind" after a small battle scene with blood spurting everywhere, axes splitting heads open, arrows through the neck. The CGI is poor (I've never seen waves move on shore as quickly as that - they're on steroids) but it just points to the slapdash way this was made. Of course everybody is physically clean - shipwrecked? - looks like he just came out of a shower, no sodden, torn clothes and of course his heavy sword survived with him even being unsheathed. Bodies scattered everywhere almost in proper rows and one horse survived which of course meets up with our hero at the one oasis which he finds in a sea of sand. I could go on and on. When I think of the wonderful work Ridley Scott did with "Alien", I'm amazed that he lent his name to this waste of time.
Ridley Scott is always amzing director excellent movie watch the long extended version ~420
This is a 2005 epic historical drama directed and produced by Ridley Scott.
During the Crusades of the 12th century, a French village blacksmith goes to aid the Kingdom of Jerusalem in its defence against the Ayyubid Muslim sultan Saladin, who is battling to reclaim the city from the Christians leading to the Battle of Hattin.
This blacksmith is a protagonist named Balian of Ibelin.
Heavily fictionalised, Balian defends the holy city to save its people.
Although it contains some historical inaccuracies, this movie appears excellent as an entertaining piece with superb visual effects and mind-boggling battle scenes.
An episode of The History Channel's series "History vs. Hollywood" analyses the historical accuracy of the film.
This program and a Movie Real (a series by A&E Network) episode about Kingdom of Heaven are both included on this DVD.
Same old trash....Zzzzzzz.
Meh... I was mostly bored. Liam Neeson's role was too short. I found the transformation of a simple village blacksmith into some kind of omniscient omnipotent super-crusader, suddenly looked to by thousands as their leader, to be a load of hooey. And also, brooding pretty boy Orlando Bloom NATURALLY wins the affections of the *one and only* attractive female (in distress, boo-hoo) in this godforsaken barren wasteland. Bah. What crap. Not Ridley Scott's best work (or writer William Monahan's, another otherwise talented individual).
Great video. Saw it in school
This movie isn't an accurate portrayal of the crusades at all!
Underated, I consider it better than top grossing Gladiator. Another movie to check out in this genre is ARN a euporian production byt vey well done.
Interesting dramatization of a fascinating period of European and Middle-Eastern history. The battle scenes, sets, costumes, and most of the characters are credible, if not historically accurate.
